ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals focus, manage impulses, and regulate activity levels. It impacts key brain functions responsible for attention, planning, organization, and emotional regulation.
ADHD is more than simply being distracted or energetic—it is a medically recognized condition that can significantly affect school performance, work productivity, relationships, and daily functioning for both teens and adults.
There are three recognized types of ADHD, each presenting with different patterns of symptoms:
Predominantly Inattentive Type (Previously “ADD”) - Characterized by difficulty with focus, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through. Individuals may appear forgetful, easily distracted, or struggle to complete tasks.
Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type - Marked by high levels of energy, restlessness, impulsive decision-making, and difficulty staying still or waiting. This type is more commonly recognized in childhood but can continue into adulthood.
Combined Type ADHD - The most common presentation, involving a combination of inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms that impact multiple areas of life.
ADHD therapy is a specialized form of counseling designed to help teens and adults manage the challenges of ADHD. While medication can be helpful for some individuals, ADHD therapy focuses on building practical skills, systems, and behavioral strategies to improve everyday functioning. Rather than relying on willpower alone, therapy helps you develop habits and routines that work with your ADHD brain—not against it. Therapy provides structured, personalized support to help you better navigate school, work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.
At Purposeful Pathways Inc. we provide specialized ADHD therapy for teens and adults to improve focus, organization, emotional regulation, and daily functioning. Our approach combines evidence-based strategies and real-life tools to help you build skills that last beyond the therapy session.
ADHD-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - Learn how your thoughts, habits, and environment impact focus, motivation, and productivity—and how to shift patterns that keep you stuck.
Executive Function Coaching - Develop effective systems for time management, planning, organization, prioritization, and task completion—skills essential for success at school, work, and home.
Emotional Regulation Skills - Build tools to better manage frustration, impulsivity, overwhelm, and mood fluctuations commonly associated with ADHD.
Practical Life Strategies - Create sustainable routines, organization systems, and productivity strategies tailored to your lifestyle—not one-size-fits-all solutions.
Support Systems & Collaboration - When helpful, we involve family members or loved ones to increase understanding of ADHD and strengthen support for long-term success.
